Attacking targets that are out of sight for the pet causes the pet to freeze somehow (or go idle) and he will not attack anymore
1. Attack mobs moving away with pet (casting pet)
2. Look at the pet stopping attack actions as he moves toward mob
3. Go to passive, try to use the pet to attack, he no longer respond
Pet should report the target being out of sight (and come back to the player possibly?) after which the pet should still be able to attack another target
It's pretty obvious when you try to reproduce it (caster pet of enchanter is what I used)
