The point blank area effect damage spell in the Cleric's smiting line consistently hits for less than its delve damage even on green cons and even when you are in melee with the target.
1. Take a Cleric and put enough points in smite to get the PBAE spell
2. Find a mob and engage it in melee
3. Cast PBAE, note low damage
I don't know the behind the scenes spell damage calculations but I do know that they should hit for more than what their delve damage says. The damage on this spell line needs to be increased as it does less than delve against even green con targets which take significantly more damage than yellow cons do.
Nothing but personal experience at the moment. I'll try to test it out on Live tomorrow.
