After killing hundreds of pygmy goblins in Lyonesse I have not gotten one Gem of Spirit Abhorrent. I have had several pieces of armor, weapons, rings, necklaces, a belt and bracer drop, but no gem. These should drop just about as much as anything else.
1. Go to Lyonesse in Albion.
2. Kill pygmy goblins.
3. Notice the poor drop rate of the Gem of Spirit Abhorrent.
Increase the drop rate for the Gem of Spirit Abhorrent from pygmy goblins in Lyonesse.
I don't have verifiable evidence from other sources, just my first-hand experience on live servers compared to Uthgard 2.0 beta.
